Bethlehem Burners has announced the winners of their first online, social media photo contest – the Show Us Your Glass competition.
“Turnout for the photo contest was beyond what we ever expected,” said Katherine Hayes, vice president of Bethlehem Burners, “and the talent we saw was truly amazing.” The photo contest was hosted on Bethlehem Burners’ official Facebook page, and encouraged fans to submit photos of their best pieces of glass artwork and vote for favorite entries for the chance to win a new Bravo or Alpha torch. The 16-week contest ran from September 14 through January 14, ending with nearly 200 entries via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
After reviewing entries extensively, two top participants were chosen by Bethlehem Burners to receive one of the brand’s torches, while the participant with the most fan votes received a $100 cash prize. Criteria for judging winning submissions was technique, use of color, and overall skill level.
The grand prize was awarded to Paul Labrie, who submitted his “Flower and Hummingbird Lidded Vessel”, a large piece containing intricate detail and a wide use of color. Labrie will receive a Bethlehem Burners Bravo torch for his grand prize placement. The second place prize, a Bethlehem Burners Alpha torch, was awarded to Marcel Rensmaag for his “Dragon Eye Marble”. Jennie Lamb received the most fan votes for her “Smoking Swirls” piece, and will receive a $100 cash prize.
